Project: Live Green is an opportunity to grow public awareness for the principles of Green Design, including energy efficiency, solar or sun-tempered, sustainable and resource-efficient products, healthy home concepts, Energy Star appliances and rainwater collection as well as universal design and Feng Shui.
The combination of these concepts will result in a comfortable, rejuvenating, and environmentally friendly living space for the homeowners, while also providing them with a structure that will function well for people of all ages and abilities - lasting for many generations to come.

What can you do to be Green?
|
- Change conventional faucets and showerheads to low-flow, high pressure styles.
- When purchasing appliances, buy only ENERGY STAR qualified products that save not only energy, but also water.
- Look for the ENERGY STAR rating on home electronics - TVs, DVD players, audio components, and telephones. Many of these devices continue to use power when plugged in and not in use.
- Make sure your PC's power settings are configured to allow it to go into sleep mode when not in use.
- Plug your all of your computer equipment into one powerstrip and turn it off at night--saving energy and money.
- Unplug toasters, blenders and other occasional-use electronics when not in use--all of these items use power, even when not in use, contributing to your overall energy use.
- Considering redoing your floors? Choose sustainable products--reclaimed wood, sustainably forested woods, cork, linoleum, bamboo, and concrete are all good choices that improve indoor air quality, as well.
- Instead of viewing rainwater as a nuisance, set up collection barrels and use it to irrigate your flower and plant beds. There are many styles--from utilitarian metal and polyethylene barrels to reclaimed whiskey barrels, making them decorative as well as functional.
