Project: Live Green Team Approach
Prior to embarking on Project: Live Green, Jennifer Pippin, Willis Spivey, and Tracie Johnson-Sawyers have been working together on custom home projects for over ten years. Often referring each other to clients when given the opportunity, they work seamlessly together when working collaboratively.They each have an appreciation for the other's talents and impressive work ethic.
Spivey appreciates the exceptional design plans from Jenny and extremely effective communication with subcontractors and clients from Tracie.They had discovered that they worked extremely well together and working as a team they found that projects moved much more smoothly for both them and the client.They also discovered that they shared a common interest and passion for Green building and design and the environment.They wanted to combine their passion for the environment with their love of the homebuilding industry in order to create a positive and powerful end result for their clients.
They respect each other's talents and fit together like pieces of a puzzle – each is responsible for separate aspects, but there are open lines of communication between them and they are very aware of what is going on throughout the project.Constant communication allows them to have a system of checks and balances and this helps to alleviate many issues that could arise during the design and construction phases – all details are addressed.The team approach helps to shorten the time between phases, since the team is in touch throughout the process.The team helps simplify the building process from concept to completion.

Jennifer B. Pippin, owner of Pippin Home Designs, Inc. in Cornelius, NC is a nationally acclaimed Residential Design Specialist, Certified Professional Building Designer (CPBD) and a professional member of the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD). She is also a NC Licensed General Contractor.
Pippin’s national awards and credentials speak to her professional capability. These include the prestigious NAWBO Charlotte Woman Business Owner of the Year Award and the Charlotte Business Journal’s Top 25 Women in Business Achievement. For many years, Pippin has been interested in green design and green practices, and she is currently working towards becoming LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. Pippin makes every effort to educate her clients on green design and also speaks to local groups about the importance of going green.

Tracie Johnson-Sawyers has been bringing her passion to the interiors of homes throughout the Southeast for more than 15 years. Her versatility has set her apart as a designer with incredible insight and intuition. A talent for seeing a client’s home through their eyes and bringing it to life for their total pleasure is coupled with an innate technical ability that both trade and custom builders respect and appreciate — some of which consider her among the best in the industry for both “wow” and know-how.
Tracie’s interior design firm, PTI Designs, Inc. has continually focused on bringing the latest trends and ideas into homes to assure that every interior environment she touches also brings the very best in comfort. Her dedication to green living has resulted in studies in commercial interiors, award-winning green residential environments, and green coating solutions in order to incorporate these benefits into her client’s homes.
