Green Home Open House Tour Schedule - 2008
JULY: 18-20th, we will have Show Home Tour from 10am - 6pm each day, with special
events taking place throughout the weekend. We will invite the public to tour
the Green Home as a fundraising event, with proceeds from ticket sales going to
"Our Town's Habitat for Humanity" in Mooresville/ Davidson/Cornelius,
to raise money for them to build another Green Home for a deserving family.
August: On August 23rd, there will be an American Institute of Building
Design NC Society (AIBD, NCS) meeting here to
tour our Green Home. This is the statewide group of Residential Design
Specialists.
October: On October 4th, we will participate again this year in the NC Sustainable
Energy Associations Annual Green and Solar Homes Tour (NCSEA) which takes place
in the Fall each year. We plan to participate in this event annually. They will
have the Raleigh area tour on Sept. 27, the
first weekend and the Charlotte
area tour on the second weekend, Oct. 4th.
Note: All vendors, who participated in creating our Green Home, are invited to
join us at each of these events, by giving product demonstrations and being

Thank you for your interest in this exciting endeavor, Project: Live Green.
With this green renovation/addition project, we will strive to educate the Charlotte and surrounding communities about going green, and then we challenge consumers to demand better quality homes that incorporate environmentally friendly features from our local builders and sub-contractors. We intend to show that embracing Green Ideas can be done on any sized budget - from a small affordable new home to a larger renovation project and everything in between.
In addition, we are supporting our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate in becoming green. Basic green principles will be applied through a design that was created and donated to Our Towns Habitat for Humanity by Pippin Home Designs, Inc. Construction began in the late summer and the homeowner moved in on December 18th, 2006. Proceeds from the Project: Live Green Open House and Silent Auction will be donated to Habitat to help them to continue their green efforts with future homes.
