Let’s Go Living Green for America

While much of what happens to Mother Nature is beyond our control, such as the recent Earthquakes and tsunami in Japan, there is still much within our control when it comes to our environment. What we do now to decrease our impact on the environment is instrumental in our survival as a country and as a planet. While you may have heard it before going green can be as simple as, “ Reduce, recycle, reuse”.

The first step is very simple, “Reduce” as in reduce your consumption of material goods. Think about all of the energy and materials that go into making everyday items not to mention the packaging that comes with those items. Reducing your consumption often means simplifying your life which can be quite mind clearing.

Recycling is another way to decrease your overall impact on the environment. By recycling plastic, aluminum, glass, and paper products amond other items you are saving energy and keeping recyclable materials out of landfills.

The final step is to reuse which means to reuse old items instead of buying new. Instead of buying new all the time you may consider buying certain items used from thrift stores or garage sales. While buy used may mean having to wait for something you want it’s often much more special once you find it. By taking a few simple steps here and there you too can be eco savvy.
